About the Founder

The provision is led by Kharlee Thompson, Founder, CEO and Designated Safeguarding Lead of Next Step Provision Hub. Kharlee brings over 20 years of experience working with children and young people within educational settings, with a strong focus on Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Holding a degree in Childhood Studies with a specialism in SEN, Kharlee has developed extensive experience supporting pupils who are disengaged from education, at risk of exclusion, or presenting with complex behavioural needs. Throughout their career, Kharlee has demonstrated a consistent ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people, using a calm, structured, and empathetic approach to support behaviour, engagement, and progress. As Designated Safeguarding Lead, Kharlee is fully committed to ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding, creating a safe and supportive environment where all young people feel secure, valued, and understood. Next Step Provision Hub has been developed from a clear understanding of the gaps within mainstream education and a passion for providing high-quality, relationship-driven support that enables young people to succeed.
